Additional insights we found via Beer Connoisseur

  1. Beer was being shipped to India as early as the beginning of the 18th century

  2. George Hodgson's Bow Brewery is often pointed to as the innovator of the IPA, but that is likely only because the brewery was very close to where the East India Company's ships docked

  3. Hodgson never declared that he'd invented the IPA; that was done by a writer long after he'd died
