The nebulous nature of parole

When Jacob Wideman was 16 years old, he fatally stabbed his summer camp roommate and briefly fled authorities before turning himself in and confessing. After spending 30 years in prison, he was released on parole. Nine months later, Wideman was back in prison, accused of violating parole for not booking a therapy appointment fast enough. This is the first episode in a seven-part series exploring Wideman's case and parole.
