Vision experts generally don't recommend 'blue light blocking' glasses because there's no scientific evidence that the light from computer screens damages eyes.

Additional insights we found via American Academy of Ophthalmology

  1. There is some evidence that blue light exposure close to bedtime can disrupt our circadian rhythms, but the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends avoiding screens a few hours before bed or using "dark" mode on devices if they need to be used.

  2. Although humans normally blink about 15 times per minute, we only blink five to seven times per minute when staring at our devices, so the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that we force ourselves to blink regularly to help keep our eyes lubricated.

  3. Adjusting screen brightness to match the level of environmental light can also help to safeguard vision when sitting at a computer. To further safeguard your vision, try to sit about 25 inches from the screen and position it so you look slightly down to see it.
