  1. Neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran helped patients remap their perception of their limb's orientation through his famous mirror box therapy—tricking patients' brains into thinking the intact limb they could see was the missing limb.

  2. This work underscored that brain plasticity can be extremely rapid, as patients can achieve at least temporary pain relief within minutes.
