Brian Wilson originally wrote the Beach Boys' classic 'Don't Worry Baby' for the Ronettes, but the legendary girl group rejected it.

  1. Wilson was inspired by the Ronettes' 1963 single "Be My Baby," which was so impactful that he had to pull his car off the road the first time he heard it on the radio.

  2. He was particularly impressed by Phil Spector's production, writing in 2016 that "he thought of the song as one giant instrument. It was huge. Size was so important to him, how big everything sounded."

  3. Wilson wrote "Don't Worry Baby" as a sort of sequel song, hoping the Ronettes would record it, but Phil Spector declined the offer for the group because he was not interested in the group recording songs he hadn't written.
