Additional insights we found via Business Insider

  1. The US Mint adds these "reeds" to both quarters and dimes. Dimes have 118 reeds each, whereas quarters have 119.

  2. The amount of counterfeit US currency currently in circulation was estimated to be anywhere between $15M to $30M as of 2025.
