Additional insights we found via Marty33

  1. Upon impact, atoms in the object gain energy, which they try to dissipate through vibrations, much like a swing winds down and gradually loses energy after an initial push.

  2. However, just as a swing can undergo greater displacement if it is repeatedly pushed with the right timing, atoms can vibrate more vigorously if they are given additional energy through sound at the right time, preventing them from dissipating energy efficiently and instead deteriorating the object's structural integrity.

  3. If two objects have the same resonant frequency and one begins vibrating, the sound it produces can cause the other to vibrate as well, even if they are not in contact.
