Stonehenge produces concert-hall-like acoustics

Findings
Additional insights we found via BBC
A researcher at the University of Salford spent 6 months building a 1:12-scale replica of Stonehenge to study its acoustic properties within a sound-absorbing chamber.
The stones would have amplified a speaker's voice by 4 decibels inside the circle, improving speech comprehension while shielding sound from those standing outside.
Reverberation within the circle would have made music sound more powerful and impactful, an effect that Neolithic people, unaccustomed to enclosed spaces, would likely have found mesmerizing.
