Additional insights we found via Pacific Northwest Seismic Network

  1. Primary (P) and secondary (S) waves are compression and shear waves, respectively, and travel through Earth’s interior, though secondary waves only move through solids.

  2. The energy of these waves is converted into rolling Rayleigh or horizontal Love waves upon reaching the surface.
