How the Antimatter Factory works, and why antimatter transport is so difficult
At CERN, protons are accelerated to 99.93% the speed of light and collide with iridium to create antiprotons. These particles are then slowed and sent to various research experiments. Moving the antimatter to other locations for study requires trapping it in electromagnetic fields to prevent contact with normal matter, which would cause annihilation.
