The average banana produces one positron—the antimatter counterpart to an electron—every 75 minutes as its trace amounts of radioactive potassium decay.

Through beta-positive decay, an unstable potassium-40 atom in a banana can have one of its protons become a neutron via the emission of a positron and a neutrino, thereby turning the parent element into the stable, nonradioactive argon-40.
Because trace amounts of radioactive elements are in most objects, almost everything produces some amount of antimatter, though even all of the bananas on Earth collectively produce just a femtogram—a millionth of a billionth of a gram—of antimatter each year.
