In "Star Trek: The Original Series," a parallel-universe version of Lazarus tells Captain Kirk that the entire universe would explode if matter and antimatter particles met, but these particle collisions occur constantly throughout the cosmos, with each collision producing only tiny amounts of energy.
In the short story "Collision Orbit," antimatter is actively mined from normal matter asteroids for use as an energy source, but any antimatter within an asteroid would have annihilated with the nearby normal matter long before it could be collected.
In the "Angels and Demons" novel and film, an antimatter canister is stolen from CERN to be blown up in Vatican City, presumably inspired by the organization's Antimatter Factory, but, at current collection rates, accumulating enough antimatter at the facility to build such an antimatter bomb would take longer than the age of the universe and consume more energy than all of Earth's available reserves.
The antimatter laser seen in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" misrepresents lasers, which consist of photons that are their own antiparticles.
