Former LuLaRoe vendors have accused the clothing multilevel marketing company of operating a pyramid scheme, resulting in more than 50 lawsuits and a $4.75M settlement.

Findings

Additional insights we found via VICE

  1. At its peak, LuLaRoe vendors had to pay a roughly $5K registration fee (which included initial inventory kits) and sell nearly 200 products a month to be eligible for the recruiting bonus.

  2. More than 100 women who left the company filed for bankruptcy, many of whom were stuck with thousands of dollars in LuLaRoe products that couldn’t be sold due to poor quality, and LuLaRoe broke its buyback policy.

  3. Some of the company’s top leaders were making $50K a month solely from stacking payments from recruitment.
