Annie Edson Taylor was the first person ever to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel, doing so on her 63rd birthday in 1901.
Before her plunge over Niagara Falls, Edson Taylor sent her cat inside a barrel as a test. The cat survived and later posed with her in post-stunt photos.
