Located in Cloquet, Minnesota, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed full-service gas station and repair shop attracts visitors from all over the world.
The station was built in 1958, though its story began in 1950, when local businessman RW Lindholm hired Wright to build him a home in the town.
When Lindholm needed to update his gas station, he reached back out to Wright, who had become interested in designing gas stations while conceiving his vision of a more agrarian country that would require more driving.
The Lindholm Service Station features an elevated waiting room for customers waiting on repairs to their cars; Wright imagined it as a place for civic-minded conversation.
