There are roughly 400 Wright structures still standing today, and some sell for more than $10M
The structures were built in the early 1900s, which means they need significant maintenance—a hurdle for many buyers.
Roughly half of the structures have "landmark" status, meaning local landmarks commissions must approve renovations—a further obstacle for prospective buyers.
The houses are often literally out of style—closed, rather than open, kitchens; wood paneling rather than white paint; and furnishings that are built into the design, difficult to adapt.
Most owners are Wright fans interested in preserving the art form.
