Lincoln Logs, the popular children's toy, was designed by John Lloyd Wright, son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who was inspired by his father's foundation of Tokyo's Imperial Hotel.

Between 1916 and 1917, John joined his father on a visit to Japan to work on designs for the hotel and noticed the "earthquake-proof" foundation constructed from wooden logs.
The toy's name was a reference to Abraham Lincoln's childhood home, with the sets originally including instructions for recreating the home and the cabin from Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin."
The toy was one of the first construction toys marketed to both boys and girls and was eventually inducted into the inaugural class of the National Toy Hall of Fame.
