  1. Towards the end of his Woodstock ‘69 set, the legendary guitar whiz went in an unexpected direction with an instrumental cover of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

  2. Hendrix’s version was dissonantly deconstructionist, which many critics believed was a commentary on the ongoing US involvement in Vietnam.
