  1. By applying biofluorescence, in which molecules absorb certain invisible wavelengths of light and re-emit light in the visible spectrum, scientists have been able to use "cell imaging to study the cell respiration, mitosis, substrate degradation and detoxification, and intracellular transport."

  2. Through cell labeling, fluorescent probes have been used to tag proteins and organelles, including the nucleus, mitochondria, and cellular membranes.

  3. Different research may require different fluorescent probes, depending on how the body processes the specific molecule to which the probe will be bound.
