Trauma-related amputations are primarily from falls, then car accidents and related traumas, followed by mechanical forces according to analysis based on global burden of disease data in 2017.

  1. It estimates some 57 million people were living with trauma-related limb amputations that year and most of the trauma-related amputations occurred in East Asia and South Asia, followed by Western Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
