It is recommended that humans consume 2.0 to 3.7 liters (about 4.2 to 7.8 pint glasses) of water daily to replace water lost through breathing, sweating, urination, and bowel movements.

Additional insights we found via TED-Ed
The average adult human is between 55% and 60% water, which is used to lubricate joints, regulate temperature, and transport nutrients and waste products between body systems.
In humans, the brain and the heart are about three-quarters water, while the lungs are over 80% water.
The recommended water consumption amounts vary based on numerous factors, including health conditions and exercise habits, though fruits and vegetables that are almost entirely water by weight, such as strawberries, cucumbers, and broccoli, can help increase water intake.
