Additional insights we found via Private Prep

  1. While many calculators rely on algorithms that produce numeric outputs based on approximations, such as those for irrational numbers and trigonometric functions, computer algebra systems can provide exact answers to many mathematical problems by including symbols, such as π and √, and thereby removing the need for analytic computation that is often assessed.

  2. Computer algebra systems include Maple, Mathematica, Wolfram Alpha, Maxima, and Derive, which can compute limits, derivatives, and integrals and perform analytic tasks such as factoring polynomials.
