By igniting flammable gas in a tube filled with holes and playing music into it, the fire will take the shape of the sound waves, enabling the visualization of audio.

Within a Rubens tube—invented by German physicist Heinrich Rubens in 1905—sound waves travel along and reflect off the back of the tube, creating consistent patterns of higher and lower gas flow rates as these waves interfere based on their frequency.
Differences in flow rates create height disparities in the columns of fire exiting the holes, effectively turning the high- and low-density regions of gas into peaks and valleys.
