Despite the name, infinity mirrors—mirrors that reflect each other—do not produce reflections to infinity because mirrors absorb some of the incoming light with each reflection.

Although a perfect mirror reflects 100% of light that strikes its surface, every mirror has imperfections that absorb up to about 10% of the light, warming the material and leaving less to be reflected back.
Over many reflections, the light gets completely absorbed, making reflections deeper in the infinity mirror appear darker.
