Often considered the largest natural mirror on Earth, Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat—a desert formation covered in minerals.

Findings

Additional insights we found via Enrique Pacheco

  1. Particularly after substantial rainfall, Salar de Uyuni is covered by a thin layer of calm water, which exhibits undisrupted, reflective properties due to a lack of significant wind in the area.

  2. The reflectivity of Salar de Uyuni varies in different areas and over time as water evaporates from the salt flat.
