Fink grew up in Southern California and earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a special focus on real estate.
Out of grad school, Fink began working at First Boston, where he became one of the youngest managing directors in the firm’s history.
Fink credits the strong relationships he built at First Boston as integral to BlackRock’s early success, both in terms of attracting clients and talent.
One of Fink’s largest financial concerns is the US national debt, particularly the exponential growth in the debt since 2000.
Fink was famously opposed to Bitcoin until 2020, when he became seriously concerned with the potential for debasement in the American financial system.
