In 2007, a security guard shot a man at a karaoke bar in San Mateo, Rizal, allegedly because of his poor performance of the song.
The killings extended beyond that decade, though, with one in 2018, where a 60-year-old man was stabbed by his neighbor just as he was about to sing "My Way."
The violence, coupled with noise complaints, led to a string of local governments passing bills restricting the hours during which loud music, including karaoke, could be played.
