  2. Picasso took up poetry later in life, in his mid-50s, though he'd spent decades fraternizing with some of Europe's modernist poets.

  3. Breton described reading the poems as “being in the presence of an intimate journal, both of the feelings and of the senses, such as has never been kept before.”
