Less than 1% of US adults with a credit file had a perfect 850 credit score using the VantageScore 4.0 model as of March 2026.
However, a credit score doesn't have to be perfect to be considered exceptional—it just needs to be 800 or more.
Any score in the exceptional category would likely yield the same benefits as an 850, such as preferential loan and credit card terms.
