Every single American state constitution references God or the divine, though the federal Constitution does not.

Findings
Additional insights we found via Pew Research Center
State constitutions mention God a combined 116 times, with Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont carrying some of the highest numbers of religious references.
Only four states, Colorado, Iowa, Hawaii, and Washington, avoid the specific word "God," instead referencing a "Supreme Being" or, in Hawaii's case, "Divine Guidance."
Some state constitutions still technically bar atheists from holding public office, though these bans go unenforced since they conflict with the US Constitution's ban on religious tests for candidates.
