The overall C grade, up from a C- in 2021, is largely credited to the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which funded more than 60,000 projects.
Grades span 18 categories, ranging from a B for ports to a D for stormwater and transit, and for the first time since 1998, no category received a D-.
Despite the improvement, the ASCE estimates the US needs to invest an additional $9.1T in infrastructure to bring all categories to a state of good repair.
The resource includes a state-by-state breakdown and individual grades for each infrastructure category.
