The Trump administration confirmed yesterday it sent Iran a nuclear deal proposal, the details of which were not publicly disclosed. The news comes after a UN watchdog report was leaked over the weekend, finding Iran had conducted secret uranium enrichment activities in three previously undisclosed facilities: Lavisan-Shian, Varamin, and Turquzabad.
The report also found Iran possesses 400 kilograms of uranium at 60% purity, significantly above levels for civilian purposes and enough for 10 nuclear weapons if enriched to 90% purity—a step estimated to take less than two weeks (a bomb would then take months to build). The International Atomic Energy Agency, which has monitored Iran since the early 2000s, did not find evidence Iran’s program has slowed since restarting negotiations with the US in April. Instead, Iran’s stockpile has amassed the equivalent of one nuclear weapon per month for the past three months.
The US, the UK, France, and Germany are expected to refer the IAEA report to the UN Security Council. Israel has threatened to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities if US talks fail.

An aerobic exercise regimen can lower death rates from colon cancer and reduce recurrence rates by roughly one-third, a new study has found. The study is the first to show a causal relationship between cancer outcomes and exercise.
Researchers tracked 889 colon cancer patients from 2009 to 2024 who had received chemotherapy. Roughly half were assigned readings on a healthy lifestyle, while the other half were assigned a personal coach. The coach met with patients every few weeks for three years, helping them establish and maintain an exercise regimen including walking, biking, kayaking, skiing, swimming, or running. They aimed for the equivalent of at least three 45- to 60-minute walks each week.
Eight years on, the intervention group saw a 28% reduction in cancer recurrence and 37% fewer deaths. The study is the first randomized controlled trial of its kind and strengthens the case for an exercise intervention as the standard of care.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers will face off in the NBA Finals Thursday (8:30 pm ET, ABC), a matchup set after the Pacers closed out the New York Knicks in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday, 125-108.
Oklahoma City opens as one of the largest Finals favorites in the past two decades. Led by league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (known as SGA), the Thunder won 40 games by 15 points or more en route to a 68-14 regular-season record. Indiana is led by star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, whose performance against the Knicks included a ricocheting last-second bucket to send Game 1 to overtime (watch here).
Whichever team prevails will make modern history for its club. The two franchises have combined for a single NBA title—Oklahoma City won the 1979 championship as the Seattle SuperSonics (Indiana won three ABA titles in the early 1970s). Explore more NBA history here.
